Palm Jumeirah in a nutshell

Palm Jumeirah is an island built from reclaimed land off the coast of Dubai. The developer is Nakheel. The island has a trunk, the fronds and an outer crescent. The community administration gives the land area as 560 hectares and the breakwater as 11 km long.

Most visitors come for a few places: The View at The Palm, an observation deck in the Palm Tower, and Aquaventure and the aquarium at the Atlantis resort. Beach offers at Palm West Beach and Al Ittihad Park are on the island too. Each of these is a separate place with its own ticket and rules. There is no joint ticket for the island.

To get there from the airport, take the Red Line of the Dubai Metro from DXB terminals 1 and 3, change at Sobha Realty or DMCC to the Dubai Tram, and get off at Palm Jumeirah. The Palm Monorail is temporarily suspended for maintenance. A taxi is the practical way to the Atlantis end. Prices on this site are for 2026 in AED.

Our picks: Palm Jumeirah tours

The View ticket is the easy way to see the island from above, and the Aquaventure day pass suits a day built around water and slides. The helicopter flight is the calmer splurge, while the tandem skydive is for anyone who wants the jump itself, with photos and an edited video included.

A few things to know before you go

Names, openings and tickets as they stand in autumn 2026.

The aquarium has a new name

Lost Chambers reopened as the Lost World Aquarium on 27 October 2025. It is the same aquarium at Atlantis, The Palm, not a second one.

The mall has a new name

Nakheel Mall became Palm Jumeirah Mall on 3 September 2025. The monorail station carries the new name too. The View is entered from the mall's eastern roof area.

The aquarium is not in every ticket

Travel advice for the UAE

Official advice, as dated.

Since 30 September 2026 the German Federal Foreign Office has advised against non-essential travel to the UAE. It names a volatile regional security situation, the risk of wider hostilities and airspace closures. Since 29 August 2026 the US State Department has listed the UAE at Level 3, Reconsider travel (updated 17 September 2026). The UK Foreign Office advice, updated on 24 July 2026, warns of unpredictable escalation, possible flight cancellations and short-notice airspace closures. None of these notices applies to the Palm alone.

Read the current advice of your own government and check your flight status before you book. Choose cancellable tickets where you can.

Beyond the Palm

Desert trips have their own guide.

If you want dunes, camels or a night in the sand, see our sister guide for the Dubai desert and its desert safari options. This site stays with Palm Jumeirah and its neighbour Dubai Marina.
