The routes at a glance
There is no direct Red Line platform on the Palm. The public transport route is the Red Line to Sobha Realty or DMCC, the Tram to the Palm Jumeirah stop, and a walk to Palm Gateway. From Palm Gateway the Palm Monorail normally runs toward Atlantis. It is currently suspended until further notice due to maintenance, so do not plan your last stretch around it.
A taxi is the direct option from either airport. If you are heading to the waterpark, read the parking notes below and our page on Aquaventure Waterpark tickets before you leave.

Travel advice before you book
Check your own government's advice and your airline before you travel.
Germany
Since 30 September 2026 the German Federal Foreign Office has advised against non-essential travel to the UAE. It points to a volatile regional security situation, the risk of wider fighting and possible airspace closures.
United States
Since 29 August 2026 the US State Department has listed the UAE at Level 3, reconsider travel (last updated 17 September 2026). It cites terrorism and armed conflict, with continuing risks from drones and missiles and flight disruption. The notice applies to the whole country, not only to the Palm.
United Kingdom
The UK Foreign Office advice, updated on 24 July 2026, warns of unpredictable escalation, possible flight cancellations and short-notice airspace closures.

From Dubai International (DXB)
Metro first, then Tram.
Metro Red Line
The Red Line starts at Terminals 1 and 3. Metro stations are open Monday to Thursday and Saturday from 05:00 to 00:00, on Friday until 01:00 the next day and on Sunday from 08:00. You may carry up to 2 pieces of luggage, including hand luggage.
Change to the Tram
Get off at Sobha Realty or DMCC and change to the Tram. Leave the Tram at Palm Jumeirah and walk to Palm Gateway. The Tram runs Monday to Saturday from 06:00 to 01:00 the next day and on Sunday from 09:00 to 01:00 the next day. Stop opening hours are not exact last connections, so do not cut it close.
Fares
With a silver nol card a trip costs AED 3, 5 or 7.50 depending on zones. A regular Red Ticket costs AED 4, 6 or 8.50. The Monorail has its own separate fare, and there is no flat airport price without checking your zones.
Taxi
The starting fare is AED 20 for a normal car and AED 25 for a van, and the airport lists AED 25 as its start. Then you pay AED 2.62 per kilometer and AED 0.50 per minute of waiting, plus Salik tolls. A rough guide from DXB to Atlantis is 40 to 60 minutes and about AED 120, not a meter guarantee. Do not apply it to every hotel on the island.
Book a private transfer from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Palm Jumeirah at a fixed price on Kiwitaxi.
From Al Maktoum (DWC)
Bus first.
From DWC, bus F55 goes to the EXPO Metro station and bus N55 goes to Ibn Battuta bus and Metro station. Both run every 30 minutes. From there you continue by Red Line and Tram, or by taxi. There is no direct Metro connection in the DWC terminal.
| Route | Steps | Cost (2026) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metro and Tram from DXB | Red Line, change at Sobha Realty or DMCC, Tram, walk to Palm Gateway | AED 3 to 8.50 per RTA trip | Light luggage, daytime |
| Taxi from DXB | Direct | From AED 20 to 25 plus distance, about AED 120 to Atlantis as a guide | Luggage, late arrival |
| Bus and Metro from DWC | F55 or N55, then Red Line and Tram | โ | Budget |
| Taxi from DWC | Direct | โ | Luggage |
For most visitors arriving with luggage, a taxi is the simpler choice, and the Tram suits light bags in daytime hours.
On the island
Monorail status and parking.
The Monorail
The line serves Palm Gateway, Al Ittihad Park, Palm Jumeirah Mall (formerly Nakheel Mall, renamed on 3 September 2025) and Atlantis Aquaventure. It is temporarily suspended for maintenance until further notice. Check the current service status before you go and have a taxi as your fallback.
Palm Monorail โAquaventure parking
After the tunnel, take the first exit right at the roundabout to the signed Aquaventure car park. A shuttle runs to the ticketing plaza.
Lost World Aquarium
Use car park P19, which has a free shuttle, and enter via The Avenues.
